Municipal Court Judge: James Lusero
Municipal Court is held every Friday 10am until completed in the Council Chamber Room

 

James F. (Rick) Lusero grew up and went to school in Longmont, Colorado. He graduated from Longmont High School in 1968 and attended college in Elmhurst, Illinois. In 1972, he graduated with High Honors from Elmhurst College with a double major of Philosophy and Urban Studies. He then attended University of Colorado Law School and graduated in 1975.

He started private practice in Longmont in 1975 and ended his practice in 2001. He served as Longmont Municipal Judge from 1976 through 1985. He moved to Southern Colorado in 2003 where he actively manages property in Pueblo, Colorado and has served as the City Attorney for the town of La Veta since July of 2004. He was appointed to be the Municipal Judge for the town of Walsenburg in February of 2007.

He has been married to his wife, Susan, since 1971. They have four grown children; Lisa Lusero who lives in Denver, Laura Lusero lives in Pueblo, Jimmy Lusero lives in Longmont and Anna Lusero who is presently traveling in the Middle East and will be in Chicago for law school in the fall. They also have two grandsons, Zian Lusero, age 6 and Eliot Lusero, age 4 who live in Denver and a 2 year old granddaugther, Kaila Arias Lusero who lives in Pueblo. His hobbies include gardening and hiking. He is an avid reader and enjoys playing games with his family. He has also enjoys traveling.

As an added historical note, his grandparents, Rosita Valdez and Jose Florenco Lusero, were born near Gardner, married in Huerfano County in 1900, and moved to Longmont in 1917.
