FREE Day at Walsenburg Wild Waters!!!

Renewable Energy Systems (RES) is sponsoring a free day at Walsenburg Wild Waters on Friday, July 30th. The first 200 patrons will be admitted free of charge. So cross your fingers for a wind-free (sorry RES) beautiful day and join us for lots of wet and wild fun. (OK maybe we wouldn't mind a small breeze!)

The City of Walsenburg offices will be closed on Thursday, April 1st in observance of Good Friday. We will return to normal business hours on Monday, April 5th. If you would like to make a payment, please put it in the drop box at the North end of the front sidewalk.

Beginning Monday, February 1st, City offices will be open Monday through Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and CLOSED on FRIDAYS. The Police Department window will be open Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. If you need to make a utility payment during off hours you may put it in the drop box at the North end of the front sidewalk.

The City will NOT have a Fall Pick-Up this Year for Leaves, Shrubs & Tree Branches.

It is the responsibility of property owners and occupants to legally dispose of Leaves, Shrubs & Tree Branches.

Notice is hereby given that: a proposed budget has been submitted to the City Council of the City of Walsenburg for the year 2010; a copy of such proposed budget has been filed in the office of the City Clerk, where the same is open for public inspection; such proposed budget will be considered at the regular meeting of the City Council to be held at 525 S. Albert Ave, Walsenburg, CO 81089 on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at 6:00 p.m.

Any interested elector of the City of Walsenburg may inspect the proposed budget and file or register any objections thereto at any time prior to the final adoption of the budget.

September 9, 2009 - CDOT Bridge Improvement Update - Or So We Thought. . .

CDOT will again be closing southbound I-25 at the Highway 10 overpass on either Monday, September 14th or Tuesday, September 15th to finalize a component of the bridge repair that was not able to be completed during the original job. Traffic WILL be diverted through Walsenburg during this project. It should take less than one day. Thank you for your patience.

September 4, 2009 - CDOT Bridge Improvement Update

CDOT has completed all work on the Interstate 25 overpass at HWY 10. The detour signs have been removed and traffic is no longer being diverted through Walsenburg.

August 13, 2009 - City Water Supply Concerns

It has come to our attention that recent media coverage of the contamination of some domestic water wells, near the City of Walsenburg, with coal bed methane and coal bed methane extraction by-products has caused some concern that the City of Walsenburg water supply has become contaminated as well.

The City of Walsenburg would like to reassure the citizens of Walsenburg that the city water supply is not contaminated with coal-bed methane or coal bed methane extraction by-products.

A copy of the latest available 2009 Drinking Water Consumer Confidence Report for Calendar Year 2008 is available here as a scanned PDF document. This report is also available at the Walsenburg City Hall Utilities Office, located at 525 S. Albert Avenue in Walsenburg. The Utilties Office is open Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM MDT to 4:00 PM MDT. The phone number for the Utilities Office is (719) 738-1240.

July 20, 2009 - CDOT Bridge Improvement Update

CDOT has completed all improvements on the Southbound lanes of Interstate 25 on the Highway 10 overpass and reopened the Southbound lanes. Beginning July 20th, the Northbound lanes will be closed and traffic diverted through Walsenburg via Main Street.

CDOT has stated that they expect to complete all maintenance and improvement work by Labor Day weekend.
