Water Treatment Plant

Construction of the plant itself commenced in 1999 and the facility went into production in March of 2002. During the summer months the plant processes an average of 1.2 Million gallons of water per day. The winter months average 800,000 gallons per day. The facility is capable of processing 5 million gallons per day, giving the city plenty of room for anticipated growth.

As a Class A water treatment plant operator, Joey is responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the Walsenburg Water Treatment Facility. In addition, Joey is responsbile for the collection and delivery of water samples to the State Health Department. The samples are tested for water quality and presence of contaminants that may have entered the city water system.
